Clean Bottle x Janji: A Cleaner Bottle for Cleaner Water

By Dave Spandorfer

A few months ago we moved into a new office next to Clean Bottle, a water bottle company popularly known for sticking NBA legend Bill Walton in a water bottle suit on the show Shark Tank. Over the course of our shared tenure in a small Boston office, we’ve gotten to know a lot about the Clean Bottle team: they love to ride bikes, they love Taylor Swift, and they love to build great products. And best of all, they’re just really good people.

The Race Day Poop for Another Port-a-Janj

By Leslie Davis

4/1/15 11:46 AM

You’re peeling off your sweats, re-tying your laces one last time, taking a quick whiff of your armpits (not that it matters at this point), and then something growls up at you from down below, deep in the abyss of your GI tract. You dart to the mall of blue-or-maybe-green porta-potties and find yourself at the back of an endless DMV-esque line, waiting anxiously to expel whatever it is that’s bubbling up from inside. After a fidgety 15 minutes, you are finally next in line to relieve yourself in the comfort of a terrifyingly disgusting porta-potty, using only the scraps of toilet paper that have been left for you by the hundreds of coffee-drinking lumberjacks who must’ve come before you. You hurry back outside so that you can exhale the breath you’ve been holding. The gun goes off, and you watch your race start from the sidelines. Fear not, fellow race day poopers, for after two years of research and development, thousands of hours of engineering and design, and a whole lot of test poops, Janji is proud to announce: The Race Day Poop for Another Port-a-Janji! For runners, by runners, this porta-potty gives one year of clean water to one person named John.

Ethiopia: Janji's Newest Line

By Dave Spandorfer

During the 2000 Sydney Olympics, in front of 112,000 spectators, Haile Gebrselassie clipped along next to Paul Tergat in the 10,000 meter. With a mile left,  the 5’5 Gebreselassie--popularly nicknamed Geb--moved ahead of his rival, the 6’ Tergat, as the two rounded the corner after a blistering 64-second ap. A few steps after, the Kenyan John Korir grabbed the lead, his stride expanded and his cadence beautifully fluid. With three laps to go, it was three Kenyans and two Ethiopians left in the front pack. Paul Tergat, one of the greatest distance runners ever, sat on Gebrselassie’s shoulder, while Gebrselassie in turn tucked in behind Korir.

Dave's Favorite Janji Gifts for the Holidays

By Dave Spandorfer

12/1/14 5:26 PM

Surprise, surprise: I like giving Janji as holiday gifts to family and friends.  Two years ago, with Janji’s very limited collection, I was limited to giving white t-shirts and blue (Haiti) and red (Kenya) shorts. Now, with a much larger selection, there are a lot more options for me to give runners for Christmas and Hanukkah. Since I’m often asked about my favorite Janji pieces, I thought I’d make a list for those looking to give a gift that gives back. If you’re seeking other great gifts that give back that aren’t made by Janji, we review a bunch here.

Here at Janji, we’re always trying to find new and exciting ways to give back. So this holiday season, why not give gifts that go the distance by being delightful tokens of affection as well as being socially conscious? Two major aspects of the Holiday Season are showing our loved ones that we care for them, and making an extra effort to think of the needs of those less fortunate than us. To help with both of those goals, we’ve compiled a gift guide for you of the season’s best socially-conscious gifts!
